Welcome to our electronic portal.
The role of ethics commitee (EC) is of paramount important in protecting the safety and wellbeing of human subjects in clinical trials. The EC of Faculty of Medicine University of Indoneisa and Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital was first established in 1987. Today, this EC is named as the Health Research Ethics Commitee - University of Indonesia and Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (HREC-FMUI/CMH) (Komite Etik Penelitian Kesehatan Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia - Rumah Sakit Cipto Mangunkusumo, KEPK FKUI-RSCM). It now assesses about 580 research protocols annually.
Medical technology and science have been developed further fast supported by good and quality research. High quality research qualifies scientific advantages and consders human rights, value, and dignity as stated in Declaration of Helsinki, and fulfill the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP). In line with globally rapid advance, supporting facilities including information and communication technology are necessary to support the achievement of University of Indonesia as a world class research university.
A new set of working standard has been arranged to meet the international requirements, for examples in terms of research subject protection, the role of the EC, the avoidance of conflict of interest, the protocol submission and processing procedures, communication with investigators, etc. Consequently, much improvement needs to be implemented for example the requirement for the investigators to report the ending of their studies, or to get prepared for a site monitoring by the HREC. This, of course, may lead the investigators to think that HREC is "making life more difficult". However we hope everybody could understand that these are the current international ethical standards that we all have to comply with.
This online electronic portal is now available for you all at anytime and anywhere to facilitate you for applying research ethics clearance. We hope this website could enable more researchers to get easier and faster research ethics approval process.
